Introducing Judy’s Affordable Vintage Digest 6

Judy's Digest Issue 6When we’re not busy buzzing around organising events, attending meetings and (ahem) scouring rails for our own personal vintage collections, we at Judy’s like to give our fans that little bit extra. If you’re a seasoned Judy’s addict, you may have heard of our official magazine: Judy’s Affordable Vintage Digest.

For those not in the know, Judy’s Digest is published 3-4 times a year and aims to bring you a little closer to the action, sating your retro desires in between fairs and sharing some of our best advice for your wardrobes. Edited by Kilo Manage Jenessa and featuring submissions from the full Judy’s clan (and some extra friends too!) you can expect interviews, style tips and even some sneaky peeks inside our homes.

Sounds intriguing? You can check out the brand new Issue 6 on Issuu, as well as all of our back issues. If you’re a vintage aficionado or keen scribbler, we’re always on the lookout for new writers; send us an email with some story ideas to magazine@judysvintagefair.co.uk. Similarly, we’re also open to advertisers and collaborative brands – you can use this same email address but just remember to pop ‘Advertising’ somewhere in the subject header.

Ooh La La! Vintage Treasure in France!

Sunshine, fresh air and LOADS of vintage treasure! Brand and Event Manager Emily has found it all in France.

The lucky devil has been in the Loire Valley this week and couldn’t resist a trip to the world famous ‘Brocante’ sales in the region.

First up…Saint Roche! Most of the sales in the region are a mixture of professional traders and regulars joe’s pedalling their ‘old’ things and random…shall we say tatt…! This wasn’t an issue for Eagle eyed Emily who managed to get…

A 1960s sears courier ‘Avocado Green’ suitcase & an original letter press storage tray

A December 1955 edition of ‘Match’ magazine

Total: 7.50 euros!

Day 2 saw a double whammy of bargain hunting! First off – Langeais

Emily bought…

Two vintage deckchairs!

And a 60’s cotton blend dress…

Total = 14 euros

The second stop of the day Chateau du Loir was the largest of all 3 events! Emily carefully handpicked…

A HUGE flamingo tapestry…possibly the most kitsch, ridiculous buy of the weekend!

Total: 9 euros!

TOTAL THRIFTY TOTAL: 30.50 euros…wowza!

But there’s always the ones that got away…Emily fell in love with these mid century chairs (if only she had the space)

Say Hello To Yellow!

It’s March! I know, we can barely believe it ourselves. Christmas is now a dim and distant memory as the evenings lighten, sunlight streams through our windows and the prospect of leaving the house with just a light jacket (vintage of course) starts to seem like a serious option.

Here at Judy HQ, we have well and truly caught spring fever. Off the back of a record breaking weekend of events for both the Fair and Flea (thanks Manchester and London!), we are firmly into the swing of fair season and celebrating with a good dose of colour.

And what better way to welcome in the new month that with a bold, cheery hue? We’ve been a fan of all things yellow for quite some time (you only need to look at our logo!), but our passion has spread to homewares, fashion and prints thanks to our delightful traders and our long-term love affair with Pinterest. Here are some of our faves!

Forgive us readers, for we have sinned…

Forgive us blog readers, for we have sinned; caught up in the madness and maelstrom of everyday life (and watching WAY too much ‘Game of Thrones’), we’ve ignored this little blog of late, putting it on a back burner so far away that said back burner is simply a blip in the distance. Well, ‘NO MORE’ we cry! But where to begin?? With life moving a mile a minute at the moment, we figured let’s play on that classic TV show trait and have a quick catch-up. Cue opening credits (bonus points if you comment below with a suggested tune that we should have as our ‘Judy’s Vintage Fair’ theme song…) and a booming voice as we give you ‘previously at Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair…’

We saw taxidermy at Chester…

…as well as some rather yummy cakes.

Coasters caught our eyes…

…and the Vintage Furniture Flea came to town.

We brought retro travel to Old Spitalfields…

…and got literary in Leeds!

We fell into red dress heaven at the Corn Exchange…

…and found some excellent specs to match!

And end scene! A lovely little visual treat, we hope that’s caught you up (and expect more from us this week!)

Retro Regards (and sorry once more!)

Dress to Impress!

Greetings vintage fans,

Sometimes, a dress comes along that is so out-and-out beautiful that we would sell our own mothers down the river to get it (sorry Mum, we’ll pick you up before the river hits the sea!) This floral ditty (pictured above) is such a garment! Brought to our attention by the aptly-named ‘Time of your Life’ vintage, we envisage having exactly that – twirling in parks, long lazy brunches, dance floors and weddings. Flower power to the max, we think we’ve fallen in floral love!

Yours longingly,

Judy HQ x

Judy’s at Old Spitalfields: The Rock n Roller Special

Greetings vintage fans!

The hair, the swagger, the moves (like Jagger) – there’s nothing we love more than a good rock and roller! Ahead of tomorrow’s very special Judy’s at Old Spitalfields (featuring a rockabilly theme with live music and booze from the folks at Sailor Jerry’s) we’ve decided to get in the mood by perusing our rock and roll idols from the 50s and 60s. Quoffed hair, tailoring (and bags full of talent) have a peruse below…

Feeling the urge to shake those hips? We don’t blame you! For any of you wanting to pop along, our FREE fair will be taking place at The Old Spitalfields Market (near Liverpool St) from 11am – 5pm on Bank Holiday Monday (For all the details, click HERE)

Retro Regards,

Happy New Year Vintage Fans!

Greetings Vintage Fans [and a HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU!]

As many of us have pulled ourselves out of bed, waddled to the office and packed away the tree [lest bad luck rain down on us ALL!] we just wanted to wish you a Happy New Year from Judy HQ! With ample vintage fairs, markets and special events taking over the calendar, we’re starting the year with a can-do attitude and labeling 2013 as the year that’s not just lucky for some [but lucky for EVERYONE!]

For all of our dates, remember to keep a peeper on our Facebook and Twitter and if you ever have any questions, then feel free to give us a shout!

Retro Regards,

Judy HQ x
